Synopsis. In New York to investigate the theft of $400,000 in negotiable securities from a Wall Street brokerage firm, Erskine hopes to enlist the help of Paul Thorpe (played by Robert Walker, Jr.), the messenger who was held up during the robbery. That becomes difficult, though, when Paul loses his job after the board at Vanoy, Morton learns that his uncle, Frank Poland (played by Bill Zuckert), is a La Cosa Nostra chieftain. Meanwhile, the thieves have threatened to harm Paul, despite his lineage, unless he remains quiet.
