    Original Airdate: Mar. 19, 1972

Synopsis. In Smallport, Maine, two escaped prisoners from a Massachusetts state penitentiary—one of whom, Michael Durgom (played by John Vernon), is the key witness in the upcoming trial of mob kingpin Nelson Layland—break into the home of widower Joan Forrestal (played by Diana Muldaur) and her injured son, Grady (Lee H. Needing money so that he can flee to Canada, Durgom arranges for his colleague “Buck” Buckfield to rob a bank for him, unaware that Layland has dispatched two confederates to surveil Buckfield to locate and kill Durgom. Erskine must rescue the Forrestals and somehow protect Durgom and bring him into custody.
