This week’s program will include a conversation with John James, Jack Coleman, and Gordon Thomson, three of the stars of the original Dynasty (ABC, 1981-1989), the iconic prime time soap opera that gave its viewers around the world a taste of glitz and glamour every week, amidst often outrageous plot lines and even bigger catfights. John James, of course, played Jeff Colby, the on-again, off-again love interest of Fallon Carrington; Jack Coleman played Steven Carrington, son of Blake Carrington; while Gordon Thomson played the villainous Adam Carrington, one of the most despicable characters that network TV has ever seen.

John, Jack, and Gordon are getting ready to tour the country with their three-man reunion show, Cocktails with the Carringtons: The Men of Dynasty, an evening of laughter and conversation in which the three stars share behind-the-scenes stories with the audience (and, occasionally, break out into song). The show has a definite Rat Pack vibe that will also remind you of the intimacy of nightclub venues from yesteryear. We’ll ask John, Jack, and Gordon how Cocktails with the Carringtons came to be, plus they’ll each tell us when they first realized the global impact of Dynasty, and more. John James, Jack Coleman, and Gordon Thomson will join us in our second hour.

John, Jack and Gordon will bring Cocktails with the Carringtons to the Burbank Marriott Hotel in Burbank, CA on Friday, Apr. 15 and Saturday, Apr. 16. They will also perform it at the Hollywood Roosevelt Theatre in Hollywood, CA on Sunday, Apr. 17 and Monday, Apr. 18. Check out CocktailswiththeCarringtons.com for tickets and more information on these events, as well as news and information on other upcoming venues.

Legendary Hollywood talent manager and agent Budd Burton Moss

This week’s show will also include Part 1 of a two-part conversation with Budd Burton Moss, the legendary Hollywood agent, talent manager, and showbiz raconteur who has not only represented many of the brightest stars in film, television and sports over the past six decades, but had a hand in casting in some of the most iconic comedy and dramatic series in TV history (including Bewitched, I Dream of Jeannie, and Happy Days, just to name a few). Budd Moss is also the namesake of The Burton Moss Hollywood Golden Era Award, an award that honors legendary actors and actresses from the Golden Age of Hollywood (1919 through 1963). Previous recipients of the Burton Moss Hollywood Golden Era Award include Robert Wagner and the late Rita Hayworth.

William Holden will be honored posthumously with the award as part of a ceremony that will take place in May 2022 during the Gold Coast International Film Festival in Great Neck, New York; Stefanie Powers will accept the award that night on Holden’s behalf. The next Burton Moss Hollywood Golden Era Award will be awarded posthumously to Oscar winner William Holden during the first week of May as part of the Gold Coast International Film Festival in Great Neck, New York. Actress Stefanie Powers will accept the award that night on Holden’s behalf. We’ll ask Budd about the origins of the Burton Moss Hollywood Golden Era Award, as well as the time that he worked with William Holden during production of The Bridges of Toko-Ri (one of Holden’s personal favorite films, by the way). We’ll also talk about why the Great Neck/Long Island area was a favorite spot for such stars as Charlie Chaplin during the early days of motion pictures, and a whole lot more. Budd Burton Moss will join us in our first hour.

Ms. Universe 2021 Nikki Johnson-Huston

Also this week: We will welcome attorney, speaker, and Ms. Universe 2021 Nikki Johnson-Huston. If Nikki’s life were a movie, it would have a great story arc: She overcame a life of poverty when she was a child—including several years of being homeless herself while she was a teenager—to become a successful attorney and tireless advocate for the homeless who shares her story with organizations around the country. Not only that, since entering the pageant world in 2018 (winning the titles of Mrs. Montgomery County, Ms. Philadelphia, and Ms. Pennsylvania before winning the Ms. Universe beauty pageant in 2021), Nikki has used her platform to create awareness of the plight of homeless youth. There are more than 4 million homeless youth in the United States today, many of whom are between the ages of seventeen and twenty-five.

Jeffrey Sitcov, founder and president of Doors of Change

Toward that end, Nikki has joined forces with Doors of Change, a nonprofit organization founded by Jeffrey Sitcov that has not only helped more than 2,300 homeless youth find safe forever homes since 2001, but has transformed the lives of more than 8,300 homeless youths in fourteen states through its program Taking Music and Art to the Streets, which offers music and art instruction in small group settings. Elton John, Billy Joel, B.B. King, Carlos Santana, The Rolling Stones, Bruce Springteen, The Who, and Three Dog Night are among the many music artists who have supported Doors of Change over the years, either by giving benefit concerts or by donating instruments or one-of-a-kind music memorabilia for purchase through the Doors of Change website.

We will ask Nikki what led her to collaborate with Doors of Change, plus she’ll share some of her personal story, including how she first found inspiration for becoming a lawyer through such classic TV characters as Perry Mason. Nikki Johnson-Huston and Jeffrey Sitcov will join us in our first hour.

If you listen to us in Southern California—or are planning a trip to the San Diego area around the Fourth of July weekend—Three Dog Night will perform a special Concert of Hope for Homeless Youth that will benefit Doors of Change on Thursday, June 30 at the Moonlight Amphitheater in Vista, CA. The concert begins at 7:30pm, while a VIP reception takes place at 5:30pm. For tickets and more information, visit DoorsofChange.org
