This week’s program will include Part 2 of a conversation that began last week with actor, comedian, and voice artist Hank Garrett. Known to Baby Boomers as Officer Nicholson on Car 54, Where Are You?, and to film buffs as the homicidal postal worker in Three Days of the Condor, Hank has enjoyed a diverse and very interesting career as an entertainer that spans seven decades and covers many genres. An accomplished stand-up comedian, Hank was the opening act for Tony Bennett for many years, plus he has performed countless benefits that support our disabled veterans. If you heard last week’s program, you also know that Hank is a wonderful storyteller.

Last week we covered Hank’s early career in New York. This week, we’ll talk about the events that brought him to the West Coast, including working with the likes of James Earl Jones, Larry Storch, and, of course, Robert Redford. Hank Garrett will join us in our second hour.

Hank’s memoir, From Harlem Hoodlum to Hollywood Heavyweight, is available through Briton Publishing, Amazon.com, and other online retailers.

This week’s show also includes a return visit from Paul Robert Coyle, the longtime script writer and producer who has written for network, cable and syndicated television for more than forty years, first in the genre of police and detective shows (The Streets of San Francisco, Barnaby Jones, Crazy Like a Fox, Simon & Simon) before morphing into sci-fi and fantasy TV, including Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, Star Trek: The Next Generation, Xena: Warrior Princess, Hercules: The Incredible Journeys, and Stephen King’s The Dead Zone.

Paul’s memoir, Swords, Starships and Superheroes, is the story of how a young boy from Providence, Rhode Island not only decided when he was fourteen years old that he wanted to write for television, but embarked on that journey at age eighteen and overcame several obstacles before making his first sale at age twenty-five and remaining one of the most reliable writers in television ever since. Swords, Starships and Superheroes also includes many useful tips on how to pursue a career as a professional writer—whether you want to write for television or any other form. Paul Robert Coyle will join us in our first hour.

Swords, Starships and Superheroes is available in paperback and as an eBook through Jacobs Brown Media Group, Amazon.com, and other online retailers.
