This week’s program will include a return appearance by Donelle Dadigan, founder and president of The Hollywood Museum, one of the most popular tourist attractions in Hollywood. Donelle also happens to be the goddaughter of Jose Iturbi, the first classical artist to have a Gold Record, and a man who dedicated his life to making classical music accessible worldwide to as many people as possible. A true force of nature, Jose Iturbi left his mark in many ways, not the least of which was introducing mainstream audiences to classical music through movies, radio, and television—including appearing in seven movies for M-G-M during the Golden Age of Hollywood and by accompanying such popular recording artists as Judy Garland, Frank Sinatra, and Sammy Davis Jr.

Donelle recently collaborated with Grammy Award winner Michael Feinstein on From Hollywood to the World: The Rediscovered Recordings of Pianist and Conductor Jose Iturbi, a brand new, fully illustrated coffee book that also includes the complete RCA Victor recordings of José Iturbi, all restored and remastered from the original lacquer discs and analogue tapes as part of a 16-CD collection. Donelle will talk about the career of Iturbi (and give us a glimpse of who he was as a person), plus she’ll tell us about some of the new exhibits that are on tap this spring and summer at the Hollywood Museum. Donelle Dadigan will join us in our second hour.

From Hollywood to the World: The Rediscovered Recordings of Pianist and Conductor Jose Iturbi is available now wherever books and music are sold.

Also this week: With the 2022-2023 television season marking the fiftieth anniversary of the premiere of The Waltons, we’ll bring you an encore presentation of our April 2018 conversation with actress and filmmaker Judy Norton (“Mary Ellen Walton”). Judy’s accomplishments post-Waltons have encompassed the worlds of music, theatre, cabaret, stage and film production, and independent filmmaking, including Inclusion Criteria, a thriller that Judy wrote, produced, and stars in, and Disorganized Zone, an offbeat web series. We’ll replay our conversation with Judy Norton in our first hour.
