Calendar year 2021 marks the 45th anniversary of the premiere of The Bionic Woman, the Emmy Award-winning spin-off of The Six Million Dollar Man starring Lindsay Wagner. With that in mind, we’ll mark the occasion this weekend by playing highlights of Lindsay’s appearance on TV Confidential from June 2015.
Among other topics, we asked Lindsay which episode of The Bionic Woman earned her the Emmy Award for Best Dramatic Actress in 1976. We’ll replay our conversation with Lindsay Wagner in our second hour.
As it happens, 2021 also marks the 55th anniversary of the premiere of The Time Tunnel, the classic sci-fi adventure series starring James Darren and Robert Colbert that continues to entertain and find new audiences from all over the world. With that in mind, we’ll also replay our November 2012 interview with Robert Colbert. Bob shared a few memories of these and other highlights from his fifty-year screen career—a career that began with his stirring performance of a dramatic poem in 1956. We’ll replay our conversation with Robert Colbert in our second hour.
Also this week: Sunday, Feb. 7 will mark the premiere of the reimagining of The Equalizer starring Queen Latifah. With that in mind, this week’s show will include an encore presentation of our June 2020 conversation with the creator of The Equalizer, Michael Sloan. Michael wrote and/or produced many of the most popular, successful, and iconic hour-long crime drama and adventure series of the ’70s, ’80s, and ’90s, including Columbo (“Now You See Him,” arguably one of the best episodes of that series), McCloud, Harry O, Kung Fu: The Legend Continues, and the original Battlestar Galactica, as well as the revival of Alfred Hitchcock Presents and the reunion movies for The Man From U.N.C.L.E., The Six Million Dollar Man, and The Bionic Woman. As for The Equalizer, Michael not only created and produced the original TV series starring Edward Woodward, but produced the two box-office smash feature motion pictures The Equalizer and The Equalizer II starring Denzel Washington and published a series of best-selling original Equalizer novels.
Ironically, though Michael continues to leave his mark as a writer, he originally chose a different path. He began his career as an actor and film producer in England before a series of remarkable events opened the door to a career in television writing in the U.S. We’ll talk about that, and more, when Michael Sloan joins us in our first hour.
Michael Sloan’s memoir, “One More Thing, Sir…” The Musings of a Television Writer/Producer, is a charming, personable tale that is filled with great stories about his work alongside Glen Larson, Fred Silverman, David Janssen, Anthony Zerbe, David Carradine, Clint Walker, Richard Anderson, John Frankenheimer, Raymond Burr, Patrick McGoohan, Patrick Macnee, Denzel Washington and other movie and TV legends.
