This week’s program marks the 600th edition of TV Confidential and will feature a return appearance by actress Louise Sorel. Fans of daytime television, of course, know Louise as Vivian Alamain on Days of Our Lives and Augusta Lockridge on Santa Barbara, while her many credits in prime time include guest appearances on such classic shows as Star Trek, Kojak, The Fugitive, Mission: Impossible, and the pilot for Get Christie Love!, as well as lead roles opposite Lawrence Pressman and Herb Edelman on Ladies Man (a forerunner of Murphy Brown) and opposite Don Rickles on The Don Rickles Show.
If all goes well, Louise Sorel may be returning to Days of Our Lives in early 2023 as part of a special storyline that will honor the late John Aniston. We’ll ask her about that, and more, when she joins us in our second hour.
Our first hour will feature Part 2 of a conversation that began last week with actress Norma Maldonado. Best known for her recurring role as the telenovela director on Jane the Virgin, Norma is one of the stars of Sweet Navidad, a new holiday movie from Lifetime TV that captures the essence of a Puerto Rican family during the holidays, including the unique tradition known as parrandas.
Norma will provide a brief window in the auditioning process in movies and television, plus she’ll share a few memories about some of her other TV appearances, which include working opposite Jonathan Banks in one of the final episodes of Breaking Bad.
Sweet Navidad is available now for viewing on demand on Peacock.
Our second hour will also include more of our coverage of the special roundtable discussion, moderated by film critic Leonard Maltin, at the Hollywood Museum last month that celebrated the fiftieth anniversary of The Waltons (CBS, 1972-1981) and which featured Michael Learned, Richard Thomas, Judy Norton, Jon Walmsley, Mary McDonough, Eric Scott, and Kami Cotler. Among the highlights this week will be the cast tribute to Will Geer (“Grandpa Walton”), plus our exclusive interview with actress Ellen Geer (pictured, above right), the daughter of Will Geer and the artistic director of Will Geer’s Theatricum Botanicum.
The Waltons Exhibit is now on display at The Hollywood Museum, 1660 N. Highland Avenue in Hollywood, CA, in the historic Max Factor building.
Also this week: We’ll pay tribute to Bob McGrath, the beloved singer/actor on Sesame Street who passed away on Sunday, Dec. 4. Plus: A few other surprises.
This week being our 600th program, I want to thank everyone who helps make TV Confidential possible every week, including all of our on-air contributors, guests, commentators, sponsors, Confidants, affiliate stations, and the many other people behind the scenes who contribute in ways large and small, known and unknown.

We appreciate you making us part of your life, and we look forward to spending more time with you in the weeks and months ahead.
