The founder of the Creative Center for the Arts and the Los Angeles Acting Conservatory, Michelle Danner is one of the most successful women working in the entertainment industry today, and certainly among its most versatile.
Besides being a successful actress, teacher, and entrepreneur, Michelle is an accomplished director. She has two films out right now, plus another in development: Miranda’s Victim, a courtroom drama that tells the backstory of the Miranda rights, from the perspective of the woman who was kidnapped and brutally raped by Ernesto Miranda. Michelle is also working on a stage production with Anne Archer that is set to premiere in January. We’ll ask her about these projects, plus she’ll share a few memories of actor Paul Sorvino, whom Michelle directed on two occasions. Michelle Danner will join us in our second hour.
Our second hour will also feature Part 1 of a two-part conversation with Norma Maldonado, the actress that most of you know for her recurring role as the telenovela director on Jane the Virgin, as well as her appearances on such top shows as Mad Men, Breaking Bad, The Good Doctor, Superior Donuts, The Librarians, Modern Family, The Closer, and Amazon’s Mad Dogs.
Norma is one of the stars, along with Mark Hapka and Camila Banus, of Sweet Navidad, a new holiday movie from Lifetime TV about a pastry chef who must partner with a rival chef to create a menu for a grand event in time for Christmas. Sweet Navidad also captures the essence of a Puerto Rican family during the holidays. Sweet Navidad is scheduled to air on Sunday, Dec. 11 and Tuesday, Dec. 13 on Lifetime TV, plus it is available for viewing on demand on Peacock.
Also this week: We’ll play Part 2 of a two-part conversation that began just before Thanksgiving with Randy West, the longtime television announcer, voice artist, and raconteur latest whose latest book, TV Inside Out: Flukes, Flakes, Feuds and Felonies provides a backstage pass to the truest form of reality TV: both the outrageous behavior that many stars exhibit in their pursuit of success, and the inspiring stories of television performers who beat the odds and enjoy their success while still living by The Golden Rule.
Among other topics this week, Randy will tell us the three components that a good game show host must have (as relayed to him by game show impresario Mark Goodson), plus we’ll talk about the controversy that swirled behind the scenes of The Untouchables, prior to production of that show’s two-hour pilot, that included mob threats against the life of executive producer Desi Arnaz. Randy West will join us in our first hour.

Plus: With the holidays upon us, many families will be getting together over the coming weeks (in some cases, for the first time since COVID). To get us ready for the season, The Hollywood Museum has put together The Waltons Exhibit, a fabulous new exhibit that celebrates the fiftieth anniversary of the premiere of the Waltons television series. Featuring original costumes, props from the set, landmark scripts, the typewriter that Waltons creator Earl Hamner used when he wrote scripts for the series, cast-loaned collectables (including the Emmy Awards that Michael Learned won for her performance as Olivia Walton and the dress that Mary McDonough wore in the episode in which Erin Walton got married), and more, The Waltons Exhibit is now on display at The Hollywood Museum, 1660 N. Highland Avenue in Hollywood, CA, in the historic Max Factor building.

Seven of the original cast members of The Waltons—Michael Learned, Richard Thomas, Judy Norton, Jon Walmsley, Mary McDonough, Eric Scott, and Kami Cotler—helped celebrate the launch of the Waltons Exhibit by participating in a special roundtable discussion moderated by film critic Leonard Maltin. TV Confidential was also there that day, and we’ll bring you audio highlights of that discussion as part of our first hour.
