This week’s program will include a conversation with television icons Patrick Duffy (Dallas, Step by Step, The Bold and the Beautiful) and Linda Purl (Happy Days, Matlock, The Office).

Known to their fans around the world for their work in television, on stage (and, in Linda’s case, as a recording artist), Patrick and Linda have each devoted their off-camera lives to family time and raising their now grown sons (three between them). That is part of the impetus behind Duffy’s Dough, the company that Patrick and Linda recently started together. Featured on People.com and many other platforms, Duffy’s Dough shows you how to make your own sourdough bread, sourdough pizza dough, sourdough cinnamon rolls, and many other homemade goodies, all from scratch—and all with the help of a dehydrated sourdough starter kit that originated with Patrick’s family more than seventy years ago.

Patrick and Linda are not only business partners—they are also romantic partners. Indeed, in many ways, the story of Duffy’s Dough begins with how Linda and Patrick first became a couple. We’ll talk about that, including the role that Richard Thomas played in bringing them together, when Patrick Duffy and Linda Purl join us in our second hour.

The Duffy’s Dough Sourdough Starter and Essentials Kit is available for a limited time and includes dehydrated starter, flour, sugar, measuring spoons and cups, apron, potholder, scraper, a French rolling pin, and a recipe book, while the Solo Dehydrated Sourdough Starter Kit includes dehydrated starter and a recipe book. All net proceeds from sales of Duffy’s Dough starter kits will support Patrick and Linda’s various charitable causes (which include food scarcity, education, and the environment), while Patrick personally made each flake of dehydrated starter that went into the first 1,000 kits made. Also joining us this week will be singer/actress Gisela Adisa (Kaleidoscope, Power Book III: Raising Kanan, Ridley Jones, Lights Out: Nat King Cole). Gisela currently stars as John Adams in the national tour of 1776, a reimagined production of the Tony Award-winning musical that features an all-female cast that also reflects multiple representations of race, gender, and ethnicity.

Known mostly for her work in musical theatre, Gisela will tell us how her desire to perform stems from a ritual she did every week as a young girl when she watched The Muppet Show together with her family. Gisela Adisa will join us in our first hour.

If you listen to us in the greater San Francisco Bay Area, you can see 1776: The Musical at the Center for Performing Arts in San Jose through Sunday, May 21. For our listeners everywhere else, 1776 will be coming to Seattle, Houston, Nashville, Washington, D.C. and several other cities throughout the summer, with more cities and dates to come. For tickets and more information, go to 1776Musical.com.
