This week’s program will include encore presentations of our conversations with Ken Osmond (the actor known to three generations of television viewers as Eddie Haskell on Leave It to Beaver) and Kathy Coleman (Holly Marshall on Land of the Lost).

Jerry Mathers once described Ken Osmond as, hands down, “the best actor on Leave It to Beaver” because he was the complete opposite of the character he played. While Eddie Haskell is still considered “the poster child for sneaky, rotten kids everywhere,” Ken was a real life hero who not only served twenty years as a peace officer for the Los Angeles Police Department, but was shot twice in the line of duty.

Ken’s book, Eddie: The Life and Times of America’s Preeminent Bad Boy, discusses his life and career before, during and after Leave It to Beaver, including his early career as a child actor working with the likes of Jennifer Jones, Ozzie Nelson, and Spencer Tracy; his struggles with PTSD in the years following his shooting; and his triumphant return to television later in his career on The New Leave It to Beaver. We’ll replay our conversation with Ken Osmond in our second hour.

Calendar year 2019 marks the fiftieth anniversary of Sid & Marty Krofft Productions. With that in mind, this week’s show will include an encore of our July 2015 conversation with Kathy Coleman. Kathy faced grave peril every week on Land of the Lost—one of the first, and one of the most successful, live action children’s shows ever made. But that was nothing compared to her life outside of television, which included incidents of sexual abuse, spousal abuse, being left to die in the middle of nowhere (on more than one occasion), and the trauma of learning that she was born out of wedlock.

Kathy has faced more obstacles in her life than anyone since Job—yet through it all, she has remained upbeat with the help of faith, family and friends. Kathy shares her story in her inspiring book, LOST GIRL: The Truth and Nothing But the Truth, So Help Me Kathleen, which we’ll talk about in our second hour.

Our first hour will include a replay of our January 2019 conversation with David Steinberg, Robin Williams’ manager for more than forty years, up until Williams’ death in August 2014. David Steinberg is also executive producer of Robin Williams: Come Inside My Mind, the critically acclaimed HBO documentary from 2018 that is just one part of Robin Williams: Comic Genius, an astonishing collection of vintage Robin Williams material.
