This week’s show will include a return appearance by iconic television producer Marty Krofft of Sid & Marty Krofft Productions.
A few weeks before the national lockdown, more than 150 people camped out overnight in front of the Funco Store on Hollywood Blvd. in Hollywood, California so they could witness Sid and Marty Krofft receive their star on the world famous Hollywood Walk of Fame. That ceremony, which took place on Thursday, Feb. 13, 2020, was the latest event to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Sid and Marty Krofft Productions and featured many Krofft show alumni (including Maureen McCormick and Christopher Knight of The Brady Bunch Variety Hour) as well as actors dressed as such iconic Krofft characters as H.R. Pufnstuf and Witchie-Poo.
The Krofft brothers are celebrating their golden anniversary in television, but they are far from finished. They have created three series and five pilots over the past three years, including Mutt & Stuff for Nickelodeon and a remake of Sigmund and the Sea Monsters for Amazon, plus they have several other exciting projects in the works. We’ll learn about those when Marty Krofft joins us during our first hour.
Also this week: We will welcome back Laurie Jacobson, celebrated Hollywood historian and author of several books on film and TV. Laurie has also written and produced such documentaries and specials as The 20th Anniversary of the Mary Tyler Moore Show, The Museum of Television and Radio’s Salute to Funny Women of Television, and The Warner Bros. Studio Rededication Party, plus she served as head of development for legendary producer Jack Haley, Jr. for more than a decade.
Laurie’s latest book, TV Dinners: 40 Classic Kids Dish Up Recipes with a Side of Memories, features recipes from the kitchens from your favorite classic TV child stars from the ’50s, ’60s, and ’70s, including Jerry Mathers, Jon Provost, Paul Petersen, Alison Arngrim, Kathy Garver, Bill Mumy, Ernest Thomas, and Dawn Lyn. TV Dinners not only offers fun twists on such comfort food favorites as macaroni and cheese, but provides memories of the places and people from whom these recipes originated. Some of the profits from the sales of TV Dinners will support the efforts of A Minor Consideration, the non-profit organization, founded by Paul Petersen, that helps child stars, past and present, make the often difficult transition from child acting to adult life. Laurie Jacobson will join us in our second hour.
Plus: A tribute to actor/comedian Fred Willard and a brand new DVD report. It’s a full program as always, and we certainly hope you’ll join us.
