Born with a cyanotic heart and three birth defects, Steven has spent much of his life in and out of hospitals receiving treatment for these and other medical conditions, including two open heart surgeries and two heart transplants.
Since his last visit to our program, Steven had a chance to meet the family of the man whose heart he received in his second heart transplant procedure. Statistically, only 3 percent of donor families answer any correspondence from recipients, let alone meet them. This segment was recorded in February 2020, prior to the national lockdown.
