STACY KEACH photo by Brian Cahn

This weekend’s show will include a return appearance by Stacy Keach, the award-winning Shakespearean actor and Broadway star who is also known to television audiences as hard-boiled private eye Mike Hammer, Ken Titus’s irascible dad on Titus, and, currently, Matt LeBlanc’s dad on the CBS comedy Man with a Plan. Stacy is about to play The Creature in an original adaptation of Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein that will soon be broadcast on radio stations across the U.S. and around the world. We’ll ask him about that production, plus we’ll talk about his work on Twilight Zone Radio and a few of his other famous roles. Stacy Keach will join us in our second hour.

Stacy Keach will be starring as The Creature in an original adaptation of Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein, produced by L.A. Theater Works, that will be recorded live in front of an audience for future radio broadcast at UCLA’s James Bridges Theatre on Friday, Feb. 28, Saturday, Feb. 29 and Sunday, March 1. The production also features Adhir Kalyan of Arrested Development, Mike McShane of Whose Line is It Anyway and stage actor Darren Richardson. If you listen to us to in the L.A. area, and would like to attend one of the recordings, call 310-827-0889 or go to www.latw.org for tickets and more information, There will be two performances on Saturday, Feb. 29, one of which is a matinee. The matinee performance on Saturday, Feb. 29 will be followed by a panel discussion moderated by Leslie S. Klinger, author of The New Annotated Frankenstein, and one of the world’s foremost authorities on Frankenstein.

For our listeners everywhere, the performance of Frankenstein starring Stacy Keach will soon be broadcast on public radio stations across the U.S., as well as heard daily in China and worldwide on the Radio Beijing Network. It will also become available for download as a podcast via iTunes and NPR One, as well as streaming on demand at www.latw.org.

Also this week: We will welcome author, screenwriter, and voice artist Steve Stoliar. Steve has been a professional writer for more than thirty years, providing material for Dick Cavett as well as writing episodes of such shows as Murder, She Wrote and Simon & Simon, plus he has written and produced documentaries on the likes of John Lennon, The Marx Brothers, Elvis Presley, Shemp Howard and Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Steve’s career in the entertainment industry began in the early 1970s, when a series of events led to a job as the personal secretary and archivist of the one, the only Groucho Marx during the last three years of Groucho’s life—a period of time in which Steve went from being a starry-eyed fan to becoming Groucho’s protector. Steve captures his story in a poignant memoir, Raised Eyebrows, which we’ll talk about in our first hour.

Raised Eyebrows: My Years Inside Groucho’s House is available in hardcover, paperback, as an eBook and as an audiobook through BearManor Media.
