Synopsis. In Las Mantas County, Erskine oversees the investigation of the shooting of a ranch foreman by an unknown assailant—a matter that escalates into a possible civil rights violation when the county sheriff, Bill Temple (played by James Olson), becomes the prime suspect. Town boss Clifford Wyant (played by J.D. Cannon) pressures the Bureau into resolving the matter quickly. Erskine, however, believes that Temple may have been framed.
