Synopsis. Posing as a Swiss courier, Erskine travels to Springfield, Illinois in an attempt to flush out the identity of a mysterious Communist operative known only as “Alexander.” What the inspector doesn’t realize: The man he is impersonating was sent to Springfield to assassinate Alexander.
