  1. THE DIAMOND MILLSTONE
    Original Airdate: Jan. 18, 1970

Synopsis. In Palm Beach, Florida, four men steal the famed Lockwood diamond from the home of Evelyn Harcourt. The estimated value of the diamond is between $800,000 and $1,000,000; given its worth, the thieves are more likely to cut the stone or hold it for ransom, rather than try to fence it. That prompts Erskine to focus his search on veteran jewel thieves—one of whom happens to be the actual perpetrator, Victor Amazeen (played by Jack Klugman). Though the robbers wore ski masks during the theft, Mrs. Harcourt remembers that one of the culprits—Amazeen—was decidedly older than the others, while Erskine determines a connection between one of the robbers and Harcourt’s maid, Maria Montoya (played by Pilar Seurat). Meanwhile, after surfacing in Kansas City, Amazeen finds himself threatened by two of his young accomplices, both of whom suspect that Amazeen will sell them out as soon as he gets rid of the rock.
