TVC 527.4: Ed welcomes actress and author Donzaleigh Abernathy, star of Any Day Now and the youngest daughter of the Rev. Ralph David Abernathy—the man who co-founded the Civil Rights Movement along with his best friend (and Donzaleigh’s godfather), Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Donzaleigh’s book Partners to History: Martin Luther King Jr., Ralph David Abernathy, and The Civil Right Movement is a pictorial history of the Civil Rights Movement that also captures the words of both Dr. King and Rev. Abernathy, while showing you first-hand glimpses of who they were as husbands, fathers, and people.
Donzaleigh Abernathy is also the lead soloist on “The Listening,” a unique social justice choral project inspired by “Beyond Vietnam: A Time for Break Silence,” a speech delivered by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. in April 1967. “The Listening” is now available as a single through Amazon, iTunes, Spotify, and Pandora. In addition, Donzaleigh will discuss Partners to History in a two-hour Zoom talk hosted by the Pasadena Public Library on Saturday, Feb. 27 beginning at 2pm.
