  1. THE SACRIFICE
    Original Airdate: Jan. 16, 1966

Synopsis. A defecting Soviet diplomat informs the Bureau of a security leak at a Los Angeles aerospace plant. Indeed, two plant employees—executive assistant Annamarie McNider (played by Nancy Wickwire) and technical writer Mel Olin (played by Ed Begley)—are collaborating with a Russian operative named Nagry (Albert Paulsen). Erskine flies out west and tries to infiltrate the spy ring by posing as an attorney. However, McNider and Nagry quickly surmise that Erskine is with the Bureau and dispatch Olin to assassinate him. (Unbeknownst to Olin, Nagry has made him a sacrificial lamb, believing that the FBI will cease its investigation should they catch him.) When Olin fails to kill Erskine, he finds himself trailed by both Nagry and the Bureau.
