Milt Larsen passed away this past Sunday, May 28 at age ninety-two. At the time we spoke to Milt, he was about to celebrate the 60th anniversary of It’s Magic, the star-studded live stage show that Milt produced for more than sixty years. Topics this segment include the early days of The Magic Castle, how the Castle is “three times bigger on in the inside than it is on the outside,” and why we continue to be enamored with magic.

TVC 613.2: From October 2016: Milt Larsen, founder of The Magic Castle, talks to Ed about his background in television, which includes eighteen years as a writer for Ralph Edwards Productions, where he worked on both This is Your Life and Truth or Consequences and, in the case of the former show, often entertained such entertainment legends as Buster Keaton, Stan Laurel, Ed Wynn, Mack Sennett, George Burns, and Jack Benny while Edwards’ production team set up the surprise for those guests. Also in this segment: audio highlights from Milt’s final public appearance (courtesy of both the Larsen family and B. Harlan Boll Public Relations), which took place at The Magic Castle in April 2023 at a special gathering that celebrated both the fiftieth anniversary of The Castle and Milt’s ninety-second birthday. Milt Larsen passed away this past Sunday, May 28.

At the time this conversation originally aired, Milt and Richard had just re-released their two cult comedy albums, Bon Voyage, Titanic: Smash Flops! and Banned Barbershop Ballads. Milt Larsen passed away this past Sunday, May 28 at age ninety-two.
