Synopsis. In Mount Vernon, New York, Erskine and Colby investigate the apparent kidnapping of young Laura Singer—only to discover that the actual victim is Karen Oliver, a schoolmate of Laura’s who also happens to bear  a strong resemblance to her. By the time the perpetrators realize their mistake, Erskine determines a connection between Laura and Sheila Waters, a record store employee who is also the girlfriend of one of the abductors.
