  1. DOWNFALL
    Original Airdate: Feb. 21, 1971

Synopsis. Cat burglar Holt Campbell (played by Michael Burns) surfaces in New Orleans, where he rendezvouses with his silent partner, Martin Ashton (played by Carl Betz), a jeweler with previous ties to the Chicago mob. Though Campbell assures Ashton that he made a clean getaway from his latest job (a daring heist at a Houston hotel), he, in fact, left behind several clues, including blood marks along the wall (after scraping himself), footprints, knee prints, and the serial number from a wristwatch that Campbell lost while fleeing the hotel. As Erskine pieces together the case, Campbell faces another problem: Ashton, already furious that Campbell is romancing his daughter, Lynne (played by Anne Archer), hires a syndicate hitman to eliminate his partner.
