Currently starring as arch villain Clifford Devoe, aka The Thinker, on Season Four of the hit series The Flash, Neil Sandilands first came to the U.S. in 2007, appearing in such shows as House, before returning to his native South Africa to star in a number of popular films, including the award-winning drama Die Ballade van Robbie de Wee. Also known as Titus, Lexa’s contentious right-hand man on The 100, Neil’s other prominent television appearances include Sundance TV’s Hap and Leonard (where he played the cross-bow wielding assassin Paco) and the FX series The Americans. Currently filming the independent movie Falcon Lake, Neil also recently played Academy Award-winning director Fred Zinnemann in the upcoming biopic Frank and Ava.

Though American audiences know Neil primarily as an actor, film and television viewers in his native South Africa know him as an award-winning actor, writer, producer, director and cinematographer. Neil, however, thinks of himself more as an “interpreter” than an actor. We’ll ask him what he means by that, and more, when Neil Sandilands joins us in our second hour. The season finale of The Flash airs Tuesday, May 22 on The CW.

Also joining us this week will be actress Lili Bordán. Lili stars as an Iraqi War veteran who is not all that she appears to be in Live or Die in La Honda, a crime thriller from Freestyle Digital Media that was shot entirely on location in the historic town of La Honda in Northern California. Lili also appears, along with Jane Fonda, Mary Steenburgen, Candice Bergen and Diane Keaton in the romantic comedy Book Club, plus she’ll soon be seen as Irene Lee, the iconic Warner Bros. story editor who played a pivotal film behind the scenes of the production of Casablanca, in Curtiz, an upcoming biographical film about Casablanca director Michael Curtiz, and the events surrounding that film’s production in 1942.

Lili Bordán has played a broad range of characters for film and television, both here and in the U.K., over the past two decades, including the mysterious Becca Kelly in Battlestar Galactica: Blood and Chrome, the deceptive and dangerous German security officer Hannah Strauss on ABC’s The River, Virginia Madsen’s fun hippie sister in Walt Disney’s American Girl: Grace Stirs Up Success, and the droll host of the quirky cable show Max’s Midnight Movies. What you may not know that she is also a certified Autism Movement Therapist who has taught dance to children on the Autism spectrum through the non-profit organization Guidance Autism. We’ll talk to Lili about dancing, teaching, her current and upcoming roles, and more when she joins us in our first hour.

Live or Die in La Honda is available for streaming on demand through Amazon and other platforms. Book Club opens in movie theaters nationwide on Friday, May 18.

This week’s show will also feature Lisa Hackett, one of the daughters of legendary comedian and actor Buddy Hackett, and the executive in charge of licensing and distribution requests for Hackett Entertainment. Known for mention his numerous appearances on television, including The Tonight Show with both Jack Paar and Johnny Carson and his many appearances on Hollywood Squares, as well as his roles in such classic films as It’s a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World, The Music Man and The Love Bug, Buddy Hackett was also a pioneer in the world of cable television: Not only was he among the first stand-up comics to bring his act to HBO, he revolutionized the way in which live comedy specials were filmed for television. We’ll talk about that, and more, when Lisa Hackett joins us in our first hour.

Buddy Hackett also starred in his own network TV series, Stanley (NBC, 1956-1957), one of the last live sitcoms from the Golden Age of Television. Produced by Max Liebman (Your Show of Shows), Stanley also marked some of the earliest TV appearances of such future stars as Paul Lynde, Dick Gautier, Norman Fell, Elaine Joyce, Efrem Zimbalist Jr. and Carol Burnett. All nineteen episodes of Stanley are available as a DVD set, while two of Buddy’s live comedy specials for HBO, Buddy Hackett: Live and Uncensored 1 and Buddy Hackett: Live and Uncensored 2 are available for streaming on demand through Google Play, iTunes and Amazon.com.
