One of the most successful acting coaches in the film and TV industry, Michelle Danner is also an accomplished actress and filmmaker. Michelle has new two films out, both of which she produced and directed: Bad Impulse, a psychological thriller about a family terrorized by a high-tech technology system (and which also has elements of The Shining), and The Runner, an action thriller about a troubled high school who, after being arrested, finds himself going undercover to help the police bring down a drug kingpin. The Runner stars Cameron Douglas (son of Michael Douglas), Eric Balfour (24), and newcomer Edouard Philipponnat, while Bad Impulse stars Paul Sorvino and Grant Bowler. We’ll talk about both these films, and more, when Michelle Danner joins us in our first hour.
Bad Impulse is available right now on Blu-ray and for viewing on demand on Amazon Prime and all other streaming platforms. The Runner will be released in the fall of 2021.
Our first hour will also include Part 2 of the conversation that began last week with Emmy Award winner Ron Bacon. One of the true pioneers of network television, Ronn spent thirty-five years in network TV production—mostly with ABC, where he wore many hats (including stage manager, associate director, writer, producer, and director) on more than 12,500 broadcasts, covering just about every type of programming available. Ron will share a few more stories about the various shows that he worked on and stars that he worked with (including Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra, Monty Hall, Lawrence Welk, Ernie Kovacs, and Lenny Bruce). He’ll also talk about some of the crazy mishaps that occurred both on live television, as well as during production of one of the Kovacs specials.
Also this week: We will welcome Jenna Frisby, an Emmy nominated producer and journalist who also owns and runs The William Windom Tribute Site, the most complete source of information on the Internet about the life and career of one of the most versatile and prolific actors in the history of television. Jenna’s website includes a comprehensive listing of Windom’s work in film, TV, radio, and the stage; plus insight from people such as Ron Masak and others actors who worked with him; as well as photos, quotes, and a host of interesting William Windom factoids.
Jenna is also producing a series of documentaries about William Windom, based on her interviews with people that worked with him. We’ll ask her about that, and more, when she joins us in our second hour.
