Show No. 428 with guests Marty Krofft and Marc Cushman
Original Airdates: Nov. 30-Dec. 3, 2018
First hour: Ed welcomes award-winning screenwriter, director, and music and television historian Marc Cushman (Star Trek: The Next Generation, Beyond Belief: Fact or Fiction, Diagnosis Murder, Desperately Seeking Paul McCartney, An Evening with the Golddiggers, These Are The Voyages). Marc’s latest book, Long Distance Voyagers: The Story of The Moody Blues, Volume 1: 1965-1979 is an in-depth biography and discography that covers the first fifteen years of the group’s history (roughly coinciding with the Mike Pinder era). Long Distance Voyagers includes original interviews with founding members Ray Thomas and Mike Pinder, plus thousands of vintage interviews, reviews, record chart statistics, and more. Chuck Harter co-hosts this segment. Also in this hour: Greg Ehrbar takes a look at the various DVD configurations of All in the Family.
Second hour: Iconic television producer Marty Krofft talks to Ed about how both The Banana Splits and the musical puppet show Les Poupées de Paris helped launch the careers of he and his brother, Sid; the Krofft brothers’ many collaborations with Charles Fox, including H.R. Pufnstuf and Lidsville; the appeal of Sigmund and the Sea Monsters; and their upcoming science series starring Mayim Bialik.
