Segment 1: An encore presentation of our September 2012 conversation with Morgan Woodward, the durable character actor whose more than 250 film and television roles include Boss Godfrey, aka The Man with No Eyes, in Cool Hand Luke; Captain Ron Tracey in “The Omega Glory,” a famous episode of the original Star Trek; and as Punk Anderson on the original Dallas. Topics this segment include how Morgan approached playing the Man with No Eyes, a role that required him to convey character without any dialogue; how Morgan originally auditioned for the role of Jock Ewing on Dallas before he was eventually cast as Punk; and Morgan’s longtime friendship with Jim Davis, the actor who played Jock.

Segment 1, Part 2: From September 2012: Morgan Woodward on how his acting career sprang out of his interest in opera; his early background with the Margo Jones Theatre in Dallas and, later, Walt Disney Pictures; the pivotal assists that both Fess Parker and a young Aaron Spelling gave Morgan very early in his career; Morgan’s long association with Westerns; and his experience of working with John Cassavetes on The Killing of a Chinese Bookie. Morgan Woodward passed away on Friday, Feb. 22 at the age of ninety-three.
