Synopsis. In Nashville, Tennessee, interstate con artists George Atley (played by Stuart Whitman) and Kendall Tobias (Robert Foxworth) plot to rip off record mogul Mal Ogden (Tim McIntire) to the tune of $75,000 by his exploiting his weakness for gambling. Per his M.O., Atley recruits a female accomplice, Doe Riley (Mariette Hartley)—unaware that Doe intends to play Atley and Tobias against each other. Meanwhile, Erskine attempts to track down the grifters by way of Judy Randall, the woman who assisted Atley in a $40,000 jewel robbery and check fraud scheme in South Carolina.
