Synopsis. The Bureau learns that the leaders of a Communist spy ring are Frederic Scott (played by Richard Kiley), a leading scientist who is currently overseeing Operation: Guardian—the code name for a thermonuclear alert system that represents a unique application of special photography systems. Scott was about to divulge the details of Guardian when a fateful note from his wife caused him to book a flight to New York. Erskine and Colby must locate and intercept Scott before the Communists find him.
