    Original Airdate: Mar. 24, 1968

Synopsis. According to Bureau intelligence, Emery Hale (played by Murray Hamilton), the mastermind behind an eight-man armored car theft in Texas from five years before, has fled the United States. With the statute of limitations for the crime less than a month away, Erskine catches a break when one of Hale’s accomplices inadvertently tells news reporters that a ninth man served as Hale’s inside man on the heist. The inspector believes that if the media publicizes the story, that might flush out the identity of the mysterious ninth man—and lead the Bureau to the whereabouts of Hale and the stolen money.
