  1. THE ATTORNEY
    Original Airdate: Feb. 16, 1969

Synopsis. After a five-year investigation, the Bureau arrests Manhattan crime kingpin Arnold Toby (played by Linden Chiles) on federal racketeering charges. To make sure the case against Toby sticks, power plant worker Pete Zacharias (played by Edward Asner) and his foreman, Dennis Holland (Tim O’Connor), plot to scare off Toby’s lawyer, Richard Bender (Arthur Hill). Both men have motives for wanting Bender off the case: Zacharias disapproves of Toby’s romance with his estranged daughter, Carol (Dawn Wells), while Holland’s son was convicted and executed seven years before, after Bender refused to defend him. What Zacharias doesn’t realize is that Holland is a convicted extortionist who intends to kill Zacharias after framing him for Bender’s murder. To assure a conviction against Toby, Erskine must prevent two murders.
