Show No. 424 with guests Joni Bovill, Julian David Stone, Regina Keller Gil and Caroline Sorokoff
Original Airdates: Oct. 26-29, 2018
First hour: Ed welcomes back filmmaker, playwright and author Julian David Stone. Julian’s latest book, No Cameras Allowed: My Career as an Outlaw Rock ’n’ Roll Photographer: 1981-1987, is a coffee table book featuring more than 250 photographs of some of the biggest rock ’n’ roll stars of the 1980s, including Prince, U2, the Police, David Bowie, R.E.M., the Ramones, Elvis Costello, the Talking Heads, the Grateful Dead, Joan Jett, and Bruce Springsteen. None of the photos in No Cameras Allowed have ever been published before—but that is only half the story. Limited edition prints of the photographs featured in No Cameras Allowed are available through JulianDavidStone.com. Also in this hour: Ed welcomes Regina Keller Gil, executive director of the Gold Coast Arts Center, and Caroline Sorokoff, director of The Eighth Annual Gold Coast International Film Festival, which runs Nov. 2-13, 2018 in Long Island, New York. For tickets and more information, call (516) 829-2570 or visit GoldCoastFilmFestival.org. Plus: An excerpt from our 2017 tribute to Will Jordan, the actor and comedian best known for his uncanny impression of Ed Sullivan. Second hour: Ed welcomes actress and singer Joni Bovill (Bosch, Come Sunday, How to Get Away with Murder, Concussion). Topics include Joni’s deep roots in music; her work with Oscar winners Viola Davis and Chiwetel Ejiofor and Oscar nominee Will Smith; her approach to playing Rev. Yvette Flunder in Come Sunday; and her experience working with puppets on the children’s project The Word Wits.
