TV Dinners with Laurie Jacobson
Original Airdates: June 12-14, 2020
TVC 497.4: Author, producer, and Hollywood historian Laurie Jacobson talks to Ed about her years studying improv with Harvey Lembeck (and the many famous actors who often dropped in Harvey’s classes unannounced), taking acting lessons from Russell Johnson (and how The Professor took his role as teacher very seriously), and why cookbooks will never go out of style, especially right now.
Laurie’s latest book, TV Dinners: 40 Classic Kids Dish Up Recipes with a Side of Memories, features recipes from the kitchens from your favorite classic TV child stars from the ’50s, ’60s, and ’70s, including Jerry Mathers, Jon Provost, Paul Petersen, Alison Arngrim, Kathy Garver, Bill Mumy, Ernest Thomas, and Dawn Lyn. TV Dinners not only offers fun twists on such comfort food favorites as macaroni and cheese, but provides memories of the places and people from whom these recipes originated. Some of the profits from the sales of TV Dinners will support the efforts of A Minor Consideration, the non-profit organization, founded by Paul Petersen, that helps child stars, past and present, make the often difficult transition from child acting to adult life.
